João Oliveira

João Oliveira is a Research Economist in the Monetary Analysis Directorate of the Bank of England. He holds a PhD in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics. Previously, João was an Economist at Banco de Portugal and a Teaching Assistant at Nova SBE.

In his research, he uses macroeconomic models of heterogeneous agents to study the effects of technological changes on the economic inequality of consumers, as well as to determine policies to mitigate their adverse effects. Additionally, he is interested in the macroeconomic effects of financial stability, with particular emphasis on quantifying the effects of financial crises on consumer welfare.
