ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The project “Fundos Europeus” estimates the actual impact of trans-European co-investment programs on local firm dynamics. It draws on econometric methods appropriate to address causality issues to determine the size, sign, and significance of the amounts of financing and the scope of funding on firm entry, exit, and net entry, as well as employment, using newly assembled datasets on European funds and firm dynamics for Portuguese municipalities.

The project´s principal investigator is José Tavares, full professor  at NovaSBE, and comprises João Pereira dos Santos and Ernesto Freitas as researchers.

The project is sponsored by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos.
